The KlezmerPlaybook CLUB & KlezWeCan e.V. are hosting a Klezmer Winter Gathering!

A weekend in a beautiful seminar house in Wendland (North Germany), all to ourselves, where we will play klezmer all day long - from the Klezmer Playbook, of course! We want to make music, enjoy each other's company and have fun in a relaxed manner.

Klezmerorchester Erfurt, Germany – 24-26 Feb 2023

Since its formation, the Klezmerorchester Erfurt has brought together amateur and professional musicians from all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland and connected people of different generations, origins and musical backgrounds. Johannes P. Gräßer and Szilvia Csaranko are the founders and directors of this amazing project. 24-26 February is the Introduction Workshop, final rehearsals and a concert will take part 18-21 May 2023 in Erfurt.



KlezNorth – Youlgrave, UK   – 10-12 Mar 2023

KlezNorth is an annual festival of Klezmer music, dance and song welcoming both Jewish and non-Jewish people to the wonderful world of Klezmer. With artistic directors Susi Evans (calrinet), Szilvia Csaranko (accordion) and many others. More info coming soon.

Introduction to Klezmer Course. Delve into the wonderful world of klezmer with Susi Evans (clarinet), Szilvia Csaranko (accordion) and Flora Curzon (violin) at the helm to inspire you to explore this celebratory, soulful and melodic music from 19th-century Jewish Eastern Europe. This is a course for everyone who plays an instrument and wants to learn about klezmer music.



KlezWeCan Workshop Basel, CH – 28 Apr-1 May 2023

KlezWeCan goes Basel: Dive into the fascinating sound of the old klezmer kapelyes and experience the characteristics of one of the most multi-faceted traditional styles of music!

Learn from and together with an international team of tutors about Yiddish music and culture, including Johannes Paul Gräßer, Szilvia Csaranko, Susi Evans and as guest lecturer: Michael Heitzler.

Workshop in Leipzig, Germany – 14-18 Oct 2022

Klezmer is traditional Jewish dance and feast music. This workshop is for enthusiastic instrumentalists who would like to take their klezmer skills to the next level: we will talk about repertoire, style and background information. We will work with both beginners in the genre and seasoned klezmer fanatics. With Susi Evans (clarinet), Szilvia Csaranko (accordeon), Nicolaas Cottenie (violin) & Alina Bauer (violin).
